ORKNEY caters for ALL and doesn't DISAPPOINT!

Orkney TomTom POIs (Points of Interest)

If you are a fisherman and come for the excellent FREE Trout Fishing on the well stocked brown trout lochs, or a Sea Angler coming for the varied species  available from the rocky cliffs, beach casting or fishing from the Churchill Barriers, you won't be disappointed.

If you come for Bird Watching at the various RSPB reserves, Burgar Hill, Hundland and Marwick hides are near by, or sea bird colonies on the cliffs, or waders on the beaches or lochs, you're sure to add a personal sighting to your book.

If you like History or are interested in Archaeology then the rich and wonderful Historic & Ancient Sites, Orkney is a World Heritage Site, dubbed Neolithic Orkney and rich in Archaeology, will more than keep you occupied. Ancient sites of Ring of Brodgar, Stones of Stenness, Skara Brae, Maes Howe, Broch of Gurness, Tomb of the Eagles, Brough of Birsay to name a few. For ecclesiastical interests there is St Magnus Cathedral Kirkwall, Italian Chapel, St Magnus church Birsay, The Round Kirk, Bishops Palace Kirkwall, Earls Palaces Birsay & Kirkwall and others.

If your interest is the World Wars then Orkney was a major base for the Navy during both the First & Second World Wars: Lord Kitchener's Memorial, Royal Oak sinking, German High Seas Naval Fleet scuttling in Scapa Flow, the Churchill Barriers, Air & Coastal Defence Batteries and Stations.

If you like Wildlife then we have that too, though mostly around the shores, you could see Otters, Grey & Common Seals or even spot Whales (Minke & Orca), Dolphins & Porpoises, or Leatherback Turtles.

If you are the energetic or adventurous type, then Orkney is very friendly towards the Walker or Cyclist, with good roads and excellent walking routes across moor and heath, and coastal or Cliffside paths. Divers or Climbers amongst you? then: Dive Scapa Flow, or maybe attempt an ascent of The Old Man of Hoy.

If you are the Artistic type, whether Painting, Sketching or Photography then you won't be disappointed with the scenery and the rich and varied colours produced by the Orkney sky and hues of the sea. Near perpetual daylight in Summer, Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in the Winter.

If you bring Children with you then let them 'run wild' in the wide open spaces, non-crowded beaches, or even our large green area in front of the caravan. There's plenty to do for the kids, Museums, Farm Museums, Marine Aquarium, Pony & Trap riding, Cinema, and don't miss Geri's Ice Cream Parlour.
We also have a vast selection of Children & Family DVD's & Videos, and the Caravan has its' own PlayStation 2 and games, and outside we have a 14ft Trampoline (with secure netting), Paddling pool (when weather permits), and other games.

If you just come to relax, then let the magic of Orkney and the clean fresh air revitalise you. If you like scenery and geology then Orkney abounds in that too. Hoy Cliffs, Yesnaby, Sea Stacks, Brough of Birsay, The Gloup,  and many more.

Even if you come 'out of season' there is still plenty to do. The Christmas & New Year Ba matches in Kirkwall. Or experience the stormy seas at Yesnaby, or Brough of Birsay or maybe a snowy Winter, or the wonderful night sky (no light pollution here).
